The delivery email holds everything you need to install and activate your product. That's the product key, account details or activation details, the download information, and the installation and activation steps. The exact contents depend on the product.
What each product includes
- Office 2024 Professional Plus for Windows. A 25-character product key and installation steps for the Office Deployment Tool. It activates online with the key, or through Microsoft's Product Activation Portal.
- Office 2024 Standard for Windows. A 25-character product key and installation steps for the Office Deployment Tool. It activates online with the key, or through Microsoft's Product Activation Portal.
- Office 2024 Standard for Mac. Download, installation and activation instructions for the Volume License Serializer. The serializer licenses the Mac, with no product key to type in.
- Office 365 Pro Account, 5 Devices. The account email address, a password and the setup instructions. You sign in with them on Microsoft's apps page, set a password of your own and install the apps.
- Project 2024 Professional for Windows. A product key and the installation steps for your licence type. It's redeemed to a Microsoft account, or installed with the Office Deployment Tool, as your email explains.
- Visio 2024 Professional for Windows. A product key and the installation steps for your licence type. It's redeemed to a Microsoft account, or installed with the Office Deployment Tool, as your email explains.
- Windows 11 Pro. A 25-character product key, entered in Settings > System > Activation.
- Windows Server 2025 Standard. A product key, entered with slmgr or used to convert an evaluation installation.
- Office 2024 Professional Plus and Windows 11 Pro bundle. Activation details for both products. Windows activates first, then Office.
Keep the email
Keep the delivery email for as long as you use the product. You'll need the key again if you ever reinstall, and the email is your record of the purchase. For the Office 365 Pro Account, store the password you set somewhere safe as well, because password recovery isn't available for the account.
Treat a key or account details like a password. Don't post them in reviews, forums or public screenshots, because anyone who copies them can try to use them.
A receipt isn't the delivery
The order confirmation that arrives straight after payment lists what you bought and what you paid. The delivery email is a separate message. If only the receipt has arrived, see My order email hasn't arrived.
If something doesn't match
If the email names a different product from the one you ordered, or its instructions don't match what you see on screen, contact us with your order number before you install or activate anything. What to include when you contact support lists the details that help us answer in one reply.
