Activate Project Professional 2024
Checking activation, and activating with your key or through the Product Activation Portal

Open Project and go to File > Account. An activated copy shows Product Activated, with Project Professional 2024 under Product Information. How to activate it, if it isn't, depends on whether your licence is volume or retail.
Volume licence
If you installed with the configuration file in Install Project Professional 2024, Project activated itself as the installation finished, because the file includes AUTOACTIVATE. If it didn't, activate it in one of these ways.
- In Project, go to File > Account, select Change Product Key, type the key and select Activate.
- From an administrator Command Prompt, in the folder that holds ospp.vbs, install and activate the key.
The /dstatus output lists the Project licence in its own block, separate from Office. Its LICENSE STATUS line should read ---LICENSED---. Activate Office 2024 with your product key shows how to find the folder that holds ospp.vbs.
If online activation doesn't go through, Project activates with a Confirmation ID from Microsoft's Product Activation Portal, in the same way as Office. Activate Office when online activation doesn't work has the steps.
Retail licence
A retail copy activates through the Microsoft account the key was redeemed to. Open Project and sign in with that account when asked. File > Account then shows the product and the account it belongs to.
Activation limits
A volume key counts each activation, including reinstalls on the same PC. Your product key has reached its activation limit explains what to do if the count runs out.
