Each product has its own minimum requirements, set by Microsoft. The two that catch people out most are the Windows versions Office LTSC 2024 supports, which leave out the Home and Pro editions of Windows 10, and the TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements of Windows 11.
Office 2024 Professional Plus and Standard for Windows
- A processor of 1.1 GHz or faster, with two cores
- 4 GB of memory
- 4 GB of free disk space
- A 1280 x 768 display. 64-bit Office is needed for 4K and higher resolutions
- Windows 11, Windows 11 LTSC 2024, Windows 10 LTSC 2021, Windows 10 LTSC 2019, Windows Server 2025 or Windows Server 2022
Office LTSC 2024 always installs on the system drive. Microsoft's deployment guide says "The installation location can't be changed."
Office 2024 Standard for Mac
- An Intel or Apple silicon processor
- 4 GB of memory
- 10 GB of free disk space
- A 1280 x 768 display
- One of the three most recent major versions of macOS. As of September 2026 these are macOS Golden Gate 27, macOS Tahoe 26 and macOS Sequoia 15
Office for Mac requirements and supported macOS versions explains what happens when a macOS version drops off that list.
Office 365 Pro Account
- On Windows, a processor of 1.6 GHz or faster with two cores, 4 GB of memory, 4 GB of free disk space, a 1280 x 768 display and Windows 11

- Internet access, to sign in and to keep the apps activated
The account's apps can't share a Windows PC with Office LTSC 2024, as Install the apps from your Office 365 Pro Account explains.

- DirectX 10 graphics
