Sign in at m365.cloud.microsoft/apps with the account, select Install apps, then Microsoft 365 apps, and run the installer. When it finishes, open Word and sign in with the same account to activate the apps. On Windows, remove other versions of Office first, because Office LTSC 2024 and the account's apps can't be installed on the same PC.
Before you install on Windows
  • Sign in to Windows with an administrator account. Microsoft's install steps need one.
  • Uninstall every other version of Office, including Office LTSC 2024, and restart the PC. Remove older versions of Office before installing has the steps.
  • Office LTSC 2024 can only use the PerpetualVL2024 update channel, and Microsoft's default for Microsoft 365 Apps is Current Channel. Microsoft's rule is "You can't have a mix of update channels on the same device," so a PC keeps one or the other. To keep Office LTSC 2024 on a PC, use the account on your other devices.
  • If the PC has Project or Visio from us, they have to match the account's apps in architecture and update channel. Project won't install alongside Office and Visio won't install alongside Office explain how.
Install on a Windows PC
  1. Go to m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and sign in with the account. If another account is signed in to the browser, use a separate browser profile or a private window.
  2. Select Install apps. If it isn't on the page, select Apps in the left pane first.
  3. Select Microsoft 365 apps.
  4. Run the file that downloads, and select Yes when User Account Control asks.
  5. When the installer says you're all set, select Close.
The 64-bit version installs unless a 32-bit Office, Project or Visio is already on the PC. 32-bit or 64-bit Office explains the choice.
Install on a Mac
  1. Go to m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and sign in with the account.
  2. Select Install apps, then Microsoft 365 apps.
  3. In Finder, open Downloads and double-click Microsoft Office installer.pkg. If macOS says it comes from an unidentified developer, wait 10 seconds, move the file to the desktop and Control-click it to open it.
  4. Select Continue, review the licence agreement, select Continue again and then Agree.
  5. Select Continue, then Install, and enter your Mac password if asked.
  6. Select Close when the installation finishes.
A Mac that already has Office 2024 for Mac from us can move to the account without reinstalling. Microsoft states that "The same installer package can be used for Microsoft 365 subscriptions, Office LTSC for Mac 2024, and Office LTSC for Mac 2021", and its steps for moving to a subscription are to install the latest updates, then open any app and sign in.
Activate the apps
  1. Open Word. On Windows, select Start and type Word. On a Mac, open it from Launchpad and select Get Started.
  2. Accept the licence agreement if Word shows it.
  3. Sign in with the account email address and your password.
  4. Check the account. On Windows, go to File > Account. On a Mac, the account appears in the app.
Keep the apps working
  • Stay signed in. Microsoft advises that "If you're using Microsoft 365, you should stay signed in so that Office stays activated."
  • Connect to the internet regularly. Microsoft states that "As long as the computer can connect to the internet at least once every 30 days, Microsoft 365 Apps remains fully functional."
  • The apps update themselves. On Windows, File > Account > Update Options > Update Now installs updates straight away.
If there's no install option
If Install apps doesn't appear, or Microsoft reports that a subscription is missing, contact us with your order number and a screenshot before you buy another subscription. Microsoft's page Download, install, or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 on a PC or Mac covers the installation for work or school accounts.
