Removing licences left behind by earlier versions of Office

When Word's Account page names an older product, such as Office 2019, Office 2021 or Microsoft 365, after you've installed Office LTSC 2024, a licence from the earlier version is still on the PC. Remove that licence with the ospp.vbs script and only your Office 2024 licence is left.
Check what's installed
Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps and search for Office, then for Microsoft 365. Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 or Office LTSC Standard 2024 should be the only entry. If an older version is still listed, uninstall it, restart and check again, as described in Remove older versions of Office before installing.
Remove the old licences
1. Close every Office app.
2. Open Command Prompt as administrator and change to the folder that holds ospp.vbs. Activate Office 2024 with your product key shows how to find it.
3. List the licences on the PC.

3. List the licences on the PC.
4. Each licence has a LICENSE NAME line and a line headed Last 5 characters of installed product key. Compare each one with your Office 2024 key in the delivery email, and write down the last five characters of every licence that isn't yours.
5. Remove each of those licences, with its five characters in place of XXXXX.

The script replies "Product key uninstall successful" for each one.
6. Run cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus again. Only your Office 2024 licence should be left.
7. If your own licence is missing, or its LICENSE STATUS isn't ---LICENSED---, install and activate your key.
7. If your own licence is missing, or its LICENSE STATUS isn't ---LICENSED---, install and activate your key.
8. Restart the PC, open Word and check File > Account.
Leave the licence whose last five characters match your Office 2024 key. Removing it means activating Office again, and each activation counts towards the key's limit.
