Error 0-2035, sometimes shown as 0-2035 (0), belongs with the codes Microsoft lists on its page for the message "Another installation is in progress", where it appears as 2035-0. Office setup can't start while another installation or update is running, or while one that stopped halfway still holds Windows Installer.
Steps
These steps follow Microsoft's order for this group of codes, with a check for a stuck Windows Installer task added.
- Check the notification area at the right of the taskbar for an Office icon, and select it to see the progress of any installation. If one is running, let it finish before you start yours.
- Restart the PC and run setup again.
- If setup still stops, end any Windows Installer task that is stuck, then restart. Office installation is stuck or slow shows how.
- Uninstall and reinstall. Remove every Office and Microsoft 365 entry in Settings > Apps > Installed apps. Microsoft's uninstall troubleshooter removes Microsoft 365 and Office 2016 to 2021 completely, runs on Windows 10 or later, has to run on the same PC, and can't remove Office 2024. Restart, then install again.
- As a last resort, remove Office by hand, following the manual steps on Microsoft's page Uninstall Microsoft 365 or Office from a PC.
