Write down the full error code first, including any number in brackets after it. Then work through these checks in order, from the quickest to the longest, and run setup again after each one.
Checks
- Restart the PC and run setup again from an administrator Command Prompt.
- Remove every other version of Office and Microsoft 365, as described in Remove older versions of Office before installing.
- Check the configuration file. The Product ID has to match your key, the Channel has to be PerpetualVL2024, and OfficeClientEdition has to match any Office product already on the PC.
- Install all Windows updates, and check that the PC runs a version of Windows that Office LTSC 2024 supports, listed in System requirements for our products.
- Check that the system drive has at least 4 GB free. Office installs on the system drive only, and Microsoft's deployment guide says "The installation location can't be changed."
- Download the latest Office Deployment Tool, download the installation files with /download, then install with /configure.
- Install from a clean boot, as described in Install Office from a clean boot.
- Run DISM and System File Checker, as described in Repair Windows system files before installing Office.
